In the State of Israel, there is a law for the environmental handling of electrical and electronic equipment and batteries that requires manufacturers, importers and marketers of electronic equipment to collect and treat electronic waste. The purpose of this law is to establish arrangements for the environmental treatment of electrical and electronic equipment and batteries and accumulators, to encourage the reuse of electrical and electronic equipment, to reduce the amount of waste generated from electrical and electronic equipment and batteries and accumulators and to prevent landfilling, and to reduce negative environmental and health effects of electrical and electronic equipment and of batteries and of waste equipment and batteries.
