    3. What is special about transporting biological waste and laboratory waste?

Any hazardous material or toxic waste that we transport from your business or factory premises to the designated facility, is conveyed while maintaining the principle of manufacturer’s warranty from “cradle to grave” and using a form accompanying the hazardous waste, in a fleet of dedicated trucks that are permanently maintained according to the requirements of the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The company’s security officer conducts periodic inspections of all vehicles.

All truck drivers who transport hazardous materials are professionals, hold a driver’s license and undergo special training for the safest transport of hazardous materials, while adhering to specific guidelines for each scenario and relevant documents, such as MSDS safety sheets, etc., for each material.

The hazardous waste arrives at an Ecology Services plant defined as a business used for the treatment and storage of hazardous materials.

Among the treatments approved for execution at Ecology Services:

    • Sorting and repackaging hazardous waste
    • Sorting and mixing waste from small manufacturers
    • Washing and shredding empty packaging

    • Routing of waste to the final destination

The licensed plant for the treatment of hazardous materials and hazardous waste is at your service. We take all precautions and safety measures and comply with Emergency Procedure specifications, while ensuring maximum safety, order and organization!

We are committed to high standards for the removal of hazardous substances and toxins, and, of course, to the “Hazardous Materials Law”, which was enacted in 1993. Thanks to all these, your business benefits from efficient and professional operations while complying with the law, to reduce environmental damage.

Contaminated equipment that requires special evacuation

According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, any equipment that comes into contact with hazardous substances or toxic waste which may leave traces and could lead to the bodily injury of a person, impacting nature or damage to property is considered, by definition, to be contaminated equipment and obliges its owner to conduct orderly destruction or purification by any means at the owner’s disposal or at the disposal of companies specializing in the field.

Disposing of contaminated equipment in an uncontrolled manner is a criminal offense under the law!

You can come across hazardous materials that require special reference and removal in industrial products of :the following types

Transport, removal and treatment of laboratory and biological waste

Your lab, regardless of its size or whether it is a school lab or a commercial laboratory or an industrial plant, produces a myriad of waste materials.

Laboratory waste is usually divided into three main types:

    • Expired materials
    • Empty packaging
    • Effluent

The treatment of waste of the type and the transport thereof according to the provisions of the law, is exactly the same as the treatment of any hazardous waste – regardless of quantities.

We dispose of laboratory waste and biological waste for organizations such as laboratories and schools, universities, startup companies, commercial laboratories and multiple factories.

In order to be sure that everything conforms to the provisions of the law and that you also protect the environment, it is recommended that laboratories and schools carry out the removal of hazardous waste at least once a year and, with respect to larger laboratories, once a quarter / month, depending on quantities.

The process of removing and treating laboratory waste

The waste is packed in dedicated packaging by the customer. Upon arrival of the waste at the factory, it is weighed and carefully sorted by the company’s chemists. The sorting allows the waste to be routed to different end destinations.

The treatment of laboratory waste is carried out in part – when such is possible at the transit station and when it is not – the waste is transferred to the approved end destination.

The waste is repackaged in standard packaging and delivered to the end destination.
The certificate of destruction is submitted to the customer pursuant to the provisions of the law, together with the invoice.

As part of the service, we treat biological laboratory waste that requires sterilization according to the provisions of the law. The company provides a service for the collection, removal and treatment of infectious biological waste originating from research laboratories and biotechnology plants.

Disposal of chemical or toxic waste

Because these are hazardous and toxic substances, the treatment is carried out with dedicated technologies that are specially adapted to this purpose and in accordance with the Hazardous Substances Law:

    Collection of toxic substances

This phase is carried out at the plant itself and includes emptying and collection of computer chips, liquids, sprays, hazardous materials and the like of high toxicity, in adapted containers.

In some cases, the hazardous materials are transported to a transit station located on the premises of the plant, where they are sorted.

Sorting and neutralization are performed by unique technologies developed by Ecology Services.

    Treatment of toxic waste

After neutralizing the hazardous material, sorting and transferring the toxic waste to normal packaging, the waste is loaded onto designated pallets and transferred to vehicles that are especially adapted for the disposal of toxic waste.

The vehicle fleet of the Ecology Services Company provides a solution for transporting all types of packaging and toxic materials, such as:

    • Barrels
    • Containers
    • Trolleys
    • Trailers
    • Bulk materials etc., excluding radioactive materials

The transport of hazardous materials and toxic waste to designated and regulated end sites, such as Ramat Hovav.

Reusable waste is exported by ecology services for use as a raw material for energy production.

To provide a solution to the danger of transporting hazardous materials and to be prepared for any possible scenario, we will schedule a meeting to glean information on the type of hazardous materials intended for transport.

The arrival of an Ecology Services representative for a visual inspection of the waste is especially important in order to make sure that the packaging is in order and in order to instruct the customer with respect to safe packaging.

The transport carried out by the company’s drivers is safe and efficient in accordance with the provisions of the law.

You benefit from a rapid response and process, guaranteed! Five business days and the truck will be at your site.

Waste, hazardous materials and equipment used in interaction with hazardous materials is required by law to be transported and handled extremely carefully, so it is strictly prohibited to discard them in a regular trash can or to move them without relevant permits.

Over and above the health hazard of handling these substances, there is also a legal liability.

This is a great reason to choose Ecology Services, which will transport hazardous materials to an authorized site, on your behalf.

Hazardous materials are defined as substances to which uncontrolled exposure may cause harm to a person or to the environment, including: Spillage, leakage, dispersal, explosion, evaporation, combustion, etc. (see classification of hazardous materials table).

Industrial waste can often contain hazardous materials as by-products of industrial processes.

    • Used oil: In garages and other businesses where special oils are used.
    • Flammable gases: Gases that ignite easily and can cause fires such as: Hydrogen, acetylene, oxygen and other gases with high flammability potential.
    • Toxic gases: Hexane, toluene, benzene and other toxic gases that have a health effect that are carcinogenic and affects the immediate or long-term health of human or animals.
    • Non-flammable and non-toxic gases: Compressed gases that can cause damage when they spread or force out oxygen in enclosed spaces.
    • Flammable liquid substances: Substances that will ignite in a closed vessel test at a temperature of up to 60.5 degrees Celsius, for example: Gasoline, acetone or diesel.
    • Flammable solid substances: Solids with extremely low flash temperature that can ignite easily, such as: Urea nitrate, red phosphorus or aluminum powder.
    • Oxidizing agents: Chlorine, oxygen, hydrogen peroxide and other oxidizing agents that require gentle treatment to minimize their interaction with other substances.
    • Toxic or contagious substances: For example: Methylene chloride or phenol.
Infectious substances may be found in medical waste and can include viruses or bacteria that are hazardous to humans.
In addition to toxic waste, asbestos is an excellent example of a hazardous material that can be attributed to this group.
    • Corrosive substances: Most often acids or bases that corrode living tissue or inanimate surfaces, for example: Hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, caustic soda and aqueous ammonia.
