According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, any equipment that comes into contact with hazardous materials and that may leave traces and cause bodily injury to a person, an impact upon nature or damage to property is considered, by definition, contaminated equipment and obligates its owner to destroy or purify the equipment by means available to the owner or to companies specializing in the field.<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<\/strong>Disposing of contaminated equipment in an uncontrolled manner is a criminal offense under the law.<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\r\n

What is contaminated equipment?<\/h3>\r\n

Contaminated equipment is a general term for any material that comes in contact with a hazardous material and includes, inter alia \u2013 rags, gloves, aprons, sponges, nylon, cardboard, etc.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Contaminated equipment exists in every stream in the industrial world, whether these are rags from garages \/ printing industry, or whether they are rags from clean rooms \u2013 the material is treated as contaminated equipment.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

There are other examples of contaminated equipment that it is not even conceivable that it would be defined in that manner.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

A sponge that coats firing range walls, which absorbs lead from bullets \u2013 is equipment contaminated with hazardous materials (lead, even at a very low level is defined as a hazardous material and must be treated in the same way as defined).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Another example of contaminated equipment that may surprise laymen are oil filters found in each of our vehicles and which are directed to designated end sites \u2013 by law, from vehicle workshops.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Also pipes through which hazardous materials have been streamed, from sewage and \/ or chemicals to fuels and oils, are also polluted equipment.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The treatment of these pipes includes neutralization by rinsing at an authorized facility.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

After neutralization, the piping can be recycled.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Treatment of contaminated equipment by Ecology Services<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ecology Services have a unique technology that enables the reuse of rags from clean rooms.
The technology allows us to provide our customers with a solution that is not landfilling nor burning \u2013 and saves our customers thousands of Shekels a year.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The purified rags are being used in other industries and because it is a recycled material, we can also save thousands of Shekels for our customers who use the recycled rags.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ecology Services accepts a variety of types of contaminated equipment and, when possible, we sort and compact in order to reduce volumes. If possible we examine, individually for each customer, the possibility of recycling some of the waste.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The sorting operation as well as the recycling operation stipulated above allow our customers significant financial savings.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Contaminated equipment is one of the streams approved for export by the Ministry of Environmental Protection under the Hazardous Materials Regulations (Import and Export of Hazardous Waste), 5754 – 1994 and the Basel Convention.<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Ecology Services has a professional and experienced export department. The entire process is carried out in-house in conjunction with the authorities in Israel and in the destination country.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The professional team accompanies the waste from the quotation stage to the customer until the completion of the waste treatment in the destination country.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The treatment of contaminated equipment in the target countries is approved as R1 treatment \u2013 defined as burning in favor of recycling.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
